This Weeks Racing
Preperations for BEAM are well and truly under way with the Dobbs Oil N1 Unraced starting Wednesday Night (June 27th). 48 Unraced Greyhounds are in the draw and it promises for some top class puppy action over the next few weeks.
There will be a top class card on Friday Night which is also a Benefit Night for Johnstown GAA Club. The race of the night will be the final of the Red Mills Champion Juvenile, its a top class final which features Matt O Donnell, Marie Gilbert, Paul Hennessy & Seamus Graham. Matt O'Donnell's Skywalker Puma has drawn the red jacket and after his superb 28.63 effort last week he will be favourite in many peoples eyes. However Paul Hennessy's Liveanddangerous looks a likely leader and after recording 28.80 & 28.86 he has to be hugely respected. Marie Gilber'ts Allen Master & Seamus Graham's Keelogs Diamond are also capble of a big run if getting away fast enough.
The James Tynan Memorial A3 525 has turned into a very competive sweepstake and this final will also be run Friday Night. Paul Hennessy's Priceless Pilot has drawn trap 5 in the final, this fella has really caught the eye in the past few weeks. His pace from halfway is incredible, similar to his father, Late Late Show. He looks certain to be a future star over 600 yds. This fella wont lead on Friday night and even if hes last at the sprint box he still has a chance. In stark contrast, Ballybough Pa in Trap 1 is all about early pace, hes not the strongest stayer but will hope to build up a strong lead and hope for a bit of trouble behind. The Martin Leahy trained recorded a slick 29.27 in last weeks semi final and is improving every week. Paul Hennessy's Locnamon Bridie and Vincent Finn's Inkerman are also running very well and will fancy their chances.
Milldean Tally will also be making an appearance on Friday night, however she wont be making her way to traps, the John O'Flynn trained Oaks winner will be paraded during racing, so plenty to look forward to at Kilkenny Track on Friday Night

JUVENILE SEMI FINALS
"Racing tonight at Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium features the Semi Finals of the Red Mills Champion Juvenile Open 525 and the Semi Finals of the James Tynan Memorial A3 525.
Paul Hennessy's Liveanddangerous was the fastest 1st Round winner in the Red Mills Juvenile, stopping the clock at 28.80. He will have plenty of oppostion tonight from Seamus Graham's Keelogs Diamond and Marie Gilbert's Allen Master. The other semi final is likely to be battled out between Paul Hennessy's Priceless Sky and Marie Gilbert's Dusseldorf.
The James Tynan Memorial is a red hot stake with Paul Hennessy's Pricelees Pilot and Murt Leahy's Ballybough Pa expected to dominate both semi finals.

Irish Greyhound Board Announce First-Ever National Greyhound Gathering Day
Celebration of Retired Greyhounds, July 28th at the Irish Kennel Club National Show Centre Dublin
The Irish Greyhound Board, Irish Kennel Club and GAIN Food are delighted to announce the first ever National Greyhound Gathering Day on Saturday, July 28th from 11am to 3pm at the IKC National Exhibition Centre, Cloghran. Retired racing greyhounds from across the country will be celebrated in an event that will showcase them as loving and low maintenance pets while offering an entertaining day out for spectators. The Greyhound Gathering offers a platform for owners and trainers to introduce both their active and retired greyhounds to the general public, greyhound adopters to trade tips and those interested in adopting these much loved animals will be introduced to owners of active and retired greyhounds on the day.
Throughout the day there will there be greyhound shows and novelty classes such as Best “Handled by Gent”, Best “Handled by Lady” and the most coveted, Best “Available for Adoption”. Novelty Events on the day will include Flyball and Agility. These spectacular events will be open to all greyhounds but they will need IKC training prior to the event. Training for the events will be at the IKC Centre, Cloghran, Dublin (near Dublin Airport).
Barry Coleman, Welfare & Racing Operations Support Manager of The Irish Greyhound Board said, “The IGB we are always looking for ways to ensure retired greyhounds are looked after in the best way possible and we endeavour to find the right greyhound for every family that is interested in adopting a retired greyhound. The National Gathering Day is a great way to showcase greyhounds as great pets and great fun!”
Nick Hammond of the Irish Kennel Club said, “The Irish Kennel Club is not only a registration body for pedigree dogs, it also manages and licenses canine events throughout Ireland such as dog shows, field trial events and the popular agility and obedience shows. On the day, it’s hoped to stage "Flyball" for greyhounds, an event that requires speed and agility and is an exciting spectator sport. The IKC is delighted to be involved in this initiative with our partners the IGB and sponsors Gain. The National Greyhound Gathering Day will be a fun day for dogs, owners and spectators with a competitive edge and also highlight the benefits of retired greyhounds as an ideal new family member to potential new owners.”

The National Greyhound Gathering is open to all registered greyhounds which are twelve months or older and leading. Entries may be made in advance but are also welcome on the day.
