Skywalker shows his class

All at Kilkenny Track would like to congratulate Skywalker Puma for his great win in the Derby

Skywalker Puma will be making an appearance at Kilkenny Track this Friday Night. He will be paraded up the track during racing and a presentation will be made to connections in recognition of his great Derby win and the fact that he won the Red Mills Champion Juvenile in Kilkenny Track earlier in the year. The Red Mills Champion Juvenile was a brand new Sweepstake run in 2012 and what a result we got.
We were hoping for a top class entry, in truth we didnt expect to get the Derby Winner out of it. It continues a great record of Derby Winners who featured prominently at Kilkenny Track such as "He Said So", "Tyrur Rhino", "Cool Performance" and "Like A Shot" to name but a few. Heres hoping that The Red Mills Champion Juvenile will attract such a high calibre of dog next year.

On The racing front we have the 4 Quarter Finals of the 2012 Langton House Hotel Derby. Sharon Hurley stole the show last week with 2 winners and will be looking to continue that run of form this Friday Night. Both of her greyhounds have drawn the red Jacket. However one could look foolish trying to pick an outright winner at this stage with the likes of High St Kingo, Priceless Sky, Uncle Eoin, Mickys Trickster, Frontier Sound & Locnamon Angel all still in the mix.

KILKENNY UPDATE

Wednesday card sees the 4 Quarter Finals of the Bavaria Beer A4 525. Fastest 1st Rd Winner Emmas Assurance (29.16)  looks well housed in Trap 2 in the 3rd Quarter Final and should continue her winning ways.

On Friday Night we have 1st Round heats of the Langton Derby A1 525, 36 names go into the draw on Wednesday Morning and among those chasing the €4,000 1st prize are 2011 Champion Stakes winner Uncle Eoin, Lady Lucielle, Ballygur Ted, Mickys Trickster, Welesbourne Dan & Frontier Sound. The Langton Derby always provides some great racing and this year looks just as good as ever.

The Kilkenny Track Supporters Club Summer Party night was run on August 18th was another major success in only its 2nd year of running. As promised all money raised goes back into prize money for owners & Trainers and already the Supporters Club are boosting sweepstakes at the track, indeed the Langton Derby is part financed by the Track Supporters Club.

Also a brand new 48 dog Unraced Sweepstake is now advertised for Wednesday October 10th and is sponsored by the Track Supporters Club and carries a total prize fund of €5,600. Its open to all Jan 11 or younger unraced greyhounds and it is hoped that those targeting the brand new Con & Ann Kirby Memorial Open Puppy Stake in Limerick in March will use this as a launch pad. This new unraced sweepstake carries a winners prize of €2,000 and free entry into the Con & Anne Kirby Memorial Open Puppy Stake in Limerick in March which boasts a winners prize of €80,000.

Over the years Kilkenny Track has proved very popular for owners and trainers to school their greyhounds, the latest being Skywalker Puma who was prepared for this years Irish Derby by winning the Red Mills Champion Juvenile earlier in the year. So who knows what the Track Supporters Club Unraced will throw up, time will tell!
