This promises to a great night out for all the family with a free BBQ and face painting for the children.
Prizes will be a plenty, and there will be plenty of focus on the best dressed lady and gentleman competition to be judged by Faith Almond and current Kilkenny Rose Sinead Butler. The best dressed lady will walk away with a spa voucher sponsored by the Lyrath Hotel while the most dapper man will pick up a prize sponsored by Frank Wall’s The Man Shop.
The night is being run by the Kilkenny track supporters in order to raise some much needed funding to continue the development of Kilkenny greyhound track. With this in mind there will also be two choicely bred track bred greyhounds auctioned on the night along with a superb coursing pup. All are impeccably bred, and are sure to generate massive interest.
A six month old bitch Scolari Me Daddy out of Lady Ecko, is one that really is bred to beautifully. Kindly donated by Lennon's from Threecastles. Scolari Me Daddy, a star from the 2009 Red Mills in Kilkenny, went onto Shelbourne and after runs of 28.33 (525) and 29.63 (550), and a run to the Derby quarter final as mere pup, he was catapulted to the head of the Derby ante post market until injury cut his career short. He has mated some super bitches and is now sure to be a star at stud, with his super early pace, and strong dam line. Lady Ecko was an open class bitch from with blinding early pace [1.74 sectional THR, 1.99 sctional SPK]. This bitches is from a great dam line which goes back to the great foundation dam Lanigans Ball, (who incidently is the foundation of the Pinhead line also, see below). Make no mistake this bitch will throw some super more pups, as she has already thrown Open class offspring to Top Savings.
The next lot is a 9month old bitch pup, by top American import sire Hondo Black, who consistently produces open class winners. Kindly donated by Paul and Susan Hennessy, this bitch comes from Ireland top dam line at the minute, the Pinhead line. Pinhead was a bitch that started her days around St James park, and for her owner PJ Fahy, her progeny have given us 2 Irish Derby winner, a Scottish Derby winner and winner in almost every classic on the Irish calendar. The dam in this case Tyrur Paris, recorder 2877 around Cork, and is a litter sister to Scottish Derby winner Tyrur Kieran. Breeding like this is never freely available, and this is a super chance for somebody to purchase an potential Oaks bitch or two !
The next on offer, a picture perfect coursing bitch, donated by Yvonne Harrington, by Murtys Gang ex Bless, like the two track bitches, this bitch comes with impeccable papers, bred to be a champion, she comes from Safety Leader dam line, through one of its strongest branches, and she is a daughter of the greatest brood of this generation Carrick Sam (Brood of teh Year 2010). Sam's offspring have been dominating trial stakes and cups for the last 6 years, and Bless' litter comrades were no exception, with four of them winning trialstakes (Precious Moment, Latest Bet, Irelands Awake, Latest Gamble), while another of the litter Sold the Dream was a dual cup winner and champion stakes qualifier. She is a half sister to Wallace Green, Rock and Flyer, Wizard, Feede Fred, Ashmore Lucky etc. etc.....
Her sire Murtys Gang was a super dog, running away with his trial stake at Limerick City in 2004, he immediately went to the top of the Derby betting market. Going onto Abbeyfeale then he ran away with the Corn na Féile in Abbeyfeale. Amazingly he then went on to Clonmel and duely won the Derby. The 2002 dog of the year was one of the greats, comparable to any dog that has ever won on the field. He has sired some super dogs like Sandy Sea and Murtys Blaze, and some super broods, like Lils Girl and Carrick Candy (from this exact cross).
There will also be great prizes on offer on your admission ticket such as Weekend for 2 in Dromoland Castle; 2 Arsenal Corporate Match Tickets; Visit for 4 to Coolmore Stud and All-Ireland Hurling and Football tickets. And all for just €10.
